Act 53 Petitions

If a parent or guardian’s minor child is dependent on drugs or alcohol, and their child is unwilling to receive the treatment they need, they may seek to file an Act 53 petition in Juvenile Court. Based on the petition, a judge may order the juvenile to undergo a drug and alcohol assessment and schedule the case for a hearing. At a hearing, the judge will determine whether a juvenile is dependent on drugs and/or alcohol and, if so, may order in-patient or out-patient treatment.

We represent the parents or guardians, as the petitioner(s) seeking treatment for their child. We work closely with the parents or guardians to guide them through this process and help them get their child the treatment they need to overcome dependency on drugs and/or alcohol.
